Fujifilm has been trying to take on its rivals by offering Fujifilm GFX 50S which has larger sensor for better quality pictures. Fujifilm GFX 50S is the first foray of Fujifilm into medium-format camera, and this camera is designed to fulfill high expectation of “overwhelming” image quality. On the day it was announced, it seems pretty likely that image quality will be incredible.
Fujifilm GFX 50S PriceWell, Fujifilm has a long history of producing good quality camera and great innovation. Then, you should consider that this camera is going to set you back somewhere in the region of about £10,000. Hopefully you are ready with that number when this prediction comes true. Actually, the exact pricing has not been set for the system, but the company hopes to deliver a kit that includes the viewfinder, 63mm lens, and body for under that price.
Fujifilm GFX 50S, which is actually still in development where its specifications are subject to change, based on the announcement will have a 51.4-megapixel sensor that is 1.7x larger than a full-frame sensor. It is also mirrorless, has a focal plane shutter and a range of other specifications that drew delight from the crowd in Cologne. The new GFX 50S is planned to be the first to use the company’s new G Format sensor, which Fujifilm said it fully customized and designed, and measures 43.8mm x 32.9mm. If this plan is true, that is 1.7times larger than the typical 35mm (aka full-frame) setup in high-end DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Despite that huge sensor of the camera, the 50S still manages to retain a light 800 gram (its body only) footprint and a size smaller than a typical full-frame DSLR. If you keep any questions about the new camera, read our previous post about frequently asked questions about Fujifilm GFX 50S. You may find what you want to know about the camera on this post. Still based on the announcement, Fujifilm GFX 50S will be available in early 2017, and because its exact price is still unknown, let’s home that the price will be under away the expectations.
Fujifilm GFX 50S PerformanceConsidering that Fujifilm GFX 50S is a medium-format camera, it is lighter than you might expect. A brief chance to use the Fujifilm GFX 50S although it is only for a while with model we saw just working prototypes which was shown on Photokina, the speed of its autofocus was pretty impressive. As usual, a medium-format cameras aren’t generally known for their speedy focusing abilities, but Fujifilm offers this incredible thing on the new camera that appeared to perform rather well.
Sadly, there was no enough opportunities to shot with a fully working sample yet, so it is impossible to discuss image quality in any great detail of the camera. Overall, we can tell you that Fujifilm’s sample images were highly impressive. We all know that the company has excellent photographic nous from the superb X series, so we can imagine that the GFX 50S will be capable to achieve its quality goal. The GFX 50S houses a 51.4MP 43.8 x 32.9mm CMOS sensor, which is configured to output several aspect ratios used in traditional film photography: 4:3 (native format), 3:2, 1:1, 4:5, 6:7, and 6:17. The sensor performance of the new camera is complemented by an X-processor Pro in order to maintain distinct and accurate color and tonal renditions, along with the depth and clarity affordable by the larger sensor area.
